Ellie's first Halloween season has been a busy one. She's had several opportunities to wear her butterfly costume. She went trick-or-treating at Jim's office last Friday, to a birthday/costume party on Saturday and did some neighborhood trick-or-treating tonight. Ellie also had her first visit to a pumpkin farm last weekend. She got to ride in a wagon, see bunnies, goats and roosters, watch noisy tractors pull flatbeds for hayrides, and touch lots and lots of pumpkins (that sat on straw which she wanted to eat).
This past week has also been busy with family events and celebrations. Ellie got a visit from her Great Auntie Anne, Uncle Cliff and cousin Todd who traveled all the way from Washington state. She helped her great granddad celebrate his 87th birthday and her Grandma Jo Ann & Grandpa Jim celebrated their wedding anniversary this week. 
Today Ellie helped Jim carve her first jack-o-lantern and she even ate some of the raw pumpkin. We had a beautiful, sunny, 70 degree day, so it was perfect for the day's activities. Needless to say, we've had the camera on overdrive this past week! I didn't do much editing to this group of pictures, so beware there are quite a few, but enjoy the images of Ellie's first Halloween!
Ellie is truly becoming a water baby! Even though the water is cold and her limbs are blue after 30 minutes, she loves swim class!
Jim and I usually alternate weeks taking Ellie, but this week he swam for me and I took pictures. I also got to spend some time catching up with our friend Erika. Her daughter Elizabeth is 2 months younger than Ellie and is also in the class. Elizabeth's 4-year-old sister Kate has a class at the same time, so it's a family event for them as well.

Jim chose to celebrate his Sunday birthday with a small Redskins viewing party at our house. Unfortunately the Skins lost to the Packers, but we had a great afternoon with friends. Ellie also enjoyed the celebration when we brought out the cake. She loved the candles and got to taste some of the icing, too.
The time has come for me to trade in my laptop for a stroller. As of October 1st, I have given up my full-time Account Manager job and am working part-time from home on "special projects" at LexisNexis. I am home with Ellie 3 days a week and she's going to daycare at CA with Jim 2 days. Our first week went well and I look forward to the additional time I will have with Ellie!
One of our weekly activities is a music class, which Ellie loves! She likes to "sing" along in class and enjoys playing with the instruments such as hand drums, egg shakers, tambourines and wooden sticks. The class is called Music Together if you want to learn more about the curriculum.
Ellie is also taking her second swim class this fall and is one of the few babies in class who never cries. She loves to splash around in the cold indoor pool and sing along with the teacher's songs. My friend Erika and her daughter Elizabeth are also in the class and she has pictures from week 1 that I hope to have to share very soon.
This month Jim and I have been spending weekends baby-proofing the house with new furniture, outlet covers and locks on cabinet doors. Ellie is constantly on the move - she can crawl very quickly & pulls up on everything. She can steady herself briefly on her own two feet without support, so walking cannot be far away.
